MY LIFE IN A NUTSHELL: I met my husband 35 years ago at the University of Florida where we both got our Bachelor's Degrees. We married, in Gainesville on Home- coming Weekend, after dating only 5 months and we've been married ever since. We have two sons, 30 and 31 who live in Orlando and are breaking into the music business. They have a record contract and we love their rock and roll music. The band is called bloom, and you can hear them on iTunes.
I received my MBA from USF in 1987 with an emphasis in Finance and Economics. While attending USF I was also working full time, helping coach a boys' baseball team at the Boys Club in Bradenton, and was PTA President at Moody Elementary. Even with all that, I received the Graduate Business Award for Academic Achievement and graduated with high honors. When I taught finance classes locally at Webster University I demanded the same academic excellence from my students. I wasn't very popular. But it was only the men in the class who complained. The women studied and got excellent grades. And they were all working full time too.
I went into financial advising after taking one of those personality tests, and after my accounting professor told me I was too “busy” a person to be a CPA. I love the world of advising. I once described my business as an episode of "Seinfeld." We talk, we laugh, we get some work done, we talk some more, we laugh some more and then we hug and go home.
I insist on knowing my clients very personally. I get involved with all the planning aspects of their lives. My clients work long hours and want to spend their free time with their families. They turn to me to do all the worrying about their financial futures. I even have CPAs as clients.
I have recently focused on women transitioning after divorce. I speak at the Manatee and Venice Women's Resource Centers on the financial aspects of divorce. I have recently set a date, July 18, for a new support group at the Manatee Women's Resource Center for women after divorce or widowhood to encourage them to share their financial experiences now that they are on their own. I will moderate the discussions to help these women learn from each other. I think this will be a great new adventure for all participants.

WHAT GETS ME STEAMED: Intolerance and bigotry
PARTING SHOTS TO THE WORLD: We laughed, we cried, we hugged, but most of all we loved |
